Meta Royer arrived in Vista in 1937 and worked with her husband in the real estate business in the Vista area, with five offices. They also organized the first trash and garbage pickup contract with Vista Sanitation District.
She was secretary of the Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and remembered that the Vista Irrigation District and Chamber were the only governing bodies when she arrived in Vista. The Episcopal Church met in their basement until the church was built.
