Members and Friends of the Vista Historical Society

I want to thank all of our members and friends for your support this past year. 2019 has been a fairly successful year for the Vista Historical Society and Museum.
We were able to raise sufficient funds to repair the foundation of our 85 year old museum building thanks in large part to your generous donations.

We also acquired a scanner based on a grant from the San Diego County Board of Supervisors that will allow us to digitize the remaining portion of the Vista Press, our historic city newspaper not on our website. We would like to place it on our website in the coming year. We have also used generous donations to purchase a hanging system to increase our ability to display Vista history.

It is expensive running our museum, and we depend on donations as well as grants to keep us going. In recent years we have been able to rent out grounds for private events such as weddings to add to our income. Over the past few years we have added to the area around the museum building that we use for events to make us more competitive. In 2019 we were able to host 13 private events which contributed a large portion of the society's income.

We now hope to add an area for the brides to dress for their private events. This will require relocating storage areas and the construction of a new storage building. We also hope to modify the grass area where many of these events are held by replacing the grass with the artificial equivalent. Artificial grass holds up better, will save water, and will cost less in the long run. The total cost of our plan is $53,000. Of that, we have received $28,000 through grants from the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.

We are requesting your support to raise the additional $25,000. The end of the year is coming up. We would like to close it out with sufficient funds to begin our project. It is our hope that you will be able to contribute as members and friends as you have done so many times in the past. We believe that the better our facilities are for private events the better it will make our museum.
